The mission of the Hamsterley Trailblazers is to create and renovate cycle tracks in Hamsterley Forest, by working in partnership with other groups.Our efforts will help to realise the potential of the forest as a year-round cycling venue and a mountain biking centre of excellence.

With our partners we will

• Encourage the increased use of the forest by all members of the community by providing an avenue of enjoyable recreational activity which is accessible to all
• Source and sustain funding for the repair and development of cycle trails in Hamsterley
• Seek to create environmentally sound cycle tracks to suit cyclists of all abilities and interests
• Support and promote the local economy by providing a source of sustainable tourism
• Work towards the provision of a mountain biking venue of National status
• Promote the Forest as a venue for National and International cycling events
• Promote cycling as a healthy activity in an area of social deprivation
• Ensure increased use and care of the forest
• Work to create safer recreational facilities
• Assist the countywide initiative, encouraging more people to cycle
• Further promote County Durham as a first class venue for cyclists and visitors, both nationally and internationally
