Rifty's Flapjack

Until someone else contributes to the website, you're stuck with my ramblings - let this be a lesson to you all :-)

Over the last decade, I've fostered and refined a flapjack recipe which has kept me (and others) alive in some extreme conditions : I always have some on me when out on the bike...

Ingredients

  • 500g porridge oats

  • 250g margerine

  • 120g brown sugar

  • 4 tablespoons golden syrup

  • One (flat) teaspoon salt

  • One (flat) teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • As many chopped glace cherries as the mixture will hold

Cooking instructions

  • Turn on oven to gas mark 4 or 180 degrees

  • Toast half of the oats until golden brown

  • Melt everything but the oats together

  • Stir in all the oats (toasted and non-toasted)

  • Pour mixture into a greased tin

  • Cook for 10-15 minutes

  • When cooled, cut into squares, enjoy in the middle of nowhere

Warning : this recipe may contain more than a few traces of energy...
